Sam Maloof (1916-2009), a central figure in the post-war American crafts movement, was a California native who crafted timeless furniture, which he designed and built by hand. Entirely self-taught, Maloof blended traditional elements with modern twists, producing his own elegant aesthetic. His most noted work is his rocking chair, which resembles the smoothness and shape of an antelope’s horns.
