Recent auction: The California Design Auction The auction, focused on works that were designed or produced here in California, broke several auction records. The top record breaking examples include works by Judy Chicago (realized $288,000),
Andy Warhol "Jane Fonda" (realized $45,000), Alvin Lustig (coffee table realized $13,200) and a Sam Maloof dining table (realized $144,000). In additional record breaking sales include an Otto Natzler mobile (realized $49,200),
Richard Diebenkorn print (realized $156,600), a group of Ed Ruscha books (realized $23,880), Architectural Pottery planters (group selling for over $76,000), and a Greta Grossman desk (realized $14,400).
The total sale was a record for LAMA with total realized sales of $1.9M. |

They did it again!
In keeping with their now established tradition of offering fantastic 20th Century design & fine art items, Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA) once again broke several world auction records in realized sales.
Andy Warhol's "Marilyn" (#28) sold for a The standing room only bidding together with the heavy phone
bidders seeking anonymity sparked another auction season where hundreds of happy buyers and sellers sold their treasured belongings through LAMA. With bidders participating as far away as China, Korea, Japan, Australia, England
and Europe, it was exciting just to watch the flurry of action on each lot at such a quick pace –selling on average 70 lots per hour. The total sale realized $1.33M against a low estimate of $950,000. The average lot
sold for $4,000 and once again LAMA was pleased with their 84% sell through rate (one of the highest in the business).
