Charles & Ray Eames Chairs with Alexander Girard Fabric
These Charles & Ray Eames designed armchairs and side chairs with Eiffel Tower base come from the Janet and Irving Green Estate, which leads us to the fascinating history of how these chairs came to be. As an employee of the legendary manufacturer Zenith Plastics, Irving Green developed fiberglass wing components for US Air Force aircrafts during World War II. Four years later in 1949, tasked with exploring new peacetime markets, he began using his skills in fiberglass technology to further develop and produce fiberglass chair shells for Charles & Ray Eames. Peter’s Auction Picks of the Day: May 19th
Peter: Five of my favorite items in the auction have to do with pure geometry and color:
Ellsworth Kelly’s “Yellow Over Black”
Herbert Bayer’s “Chromatic Accrument” painting
Victor Vasarely’s “DVA-DVA” painting
John McLaughlin’s “Untitled #33” painting
Each has a strong sense of shape defined by color. But also included in this group should be the Charles …

Eames in my dreams
Last Saturday some LAMA folk were lucky enough to attend the 60th Anniversary of the Eames House in the Pacific Palisades. The greatest part about the celebration was the fact that they opened the house to tours! And this only happens one day a year!!! So, you could say we were quite excited. During the tour we got to go through the studio, kitchen, and …
