All shipping is handled by third-party vendors. You are welcome to use a vendor of your choice or we can provide a referral. If your purchase qualifies for in-house shipping, we will be sure to let you know. Below, we have outlined steps to make finding a shipper as easy as possible.
1. Determine Service Needed
Factors to consider as you look for a shipper are destination, size of the item(s) and the fragility.
2. Select Shipper / Get Quotes
We have several preferred vendors that service all parts of the globe and we are happy to provide introductions.
3. Submit Shipping Authorization Form
Once you have coordinated with a shipper of your choice, please let us know by submitting a shipper authorization form.
Blanket wrap shippers individually wrap your pieces to protect the surfaces during transport. They provide door-to-door service, from scheduling a pick-up with us at the gallery to delivering it to you at your convenience. Cost varies and is determined by the size of your shipment and your location. Payment for these services may be required in advance.
This service is best for medium to large furniture. Blanket wrap is only available via ground service within the contiguous United States.
Pack & Ship
The shipper professionally packs the items and arranges transport via freight service. They provide door-to-door service, though you are responsible for unpacking your purchase and often for the disposal of the packaging materials. Cost varies and is determined by the size and location. Typically, payment for these services is required in advance. This is the preferred method for international shipments.
This service is best for small to medium sized items (both furniture and objects) and these shippers transport via ground, air, and sea, providing both international and domestic service.
Fine Art Handling
Fine art shippers provide the safest, most customizable service of all our vendors, but this may come at a premium. They specialize in custom crating, boxing, and wrapping, and are especially experienced with fragile items that cannot be packed and shipped via freight (i.e. high value works of art, glass, etc.). These vendors can provide white glove service both domestically and internationally.
This service caters to fragile, high value works of art and design. Each vendor will offer a customized and specialized delivery plan depending on specific need.
If you have any questions regarding shipping, we are available to assist.

How do I request a shipping quote?
A shipping invoice will be emailed to you the day following the sale. It will include important information such as item dimensions, pickup and delivery addresses, as well as thumbnail images of the works that you may pass along to shippers for quotes. You are welcome to reach out to any shipper of your choice or LAMA is happy to connect you with one or more of our recommended shippers.
How long will it take to receive my item(s)?
Transit times depend on distance and the shipper’s availability. It is best to work directly with your shipper to obtain an approximate timeline for delivery.
Are my items packed?
No. Items are not packed by LAMA. Your shipper will need to include this service in their shipping plan.
My item is small / easily shipped. Can LAMA simply pack it for me and ship standard courier (i.e. UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc.)?
Select items may qualify for in-house shipment. LAMA’s shipping team will be in touch with buyers directly to coordinate the details for qualifying purchases.
Does LAMA operate a shipping service of its own that I can tag along with?
Unfortunately, LAMA does not at this time.
How long do I have to pickup my auction purchase? Does LAMA offer storage?
We offer a 30 day storage grace period after sale to accommodate for pick up and shipment.
What happens if I do not pick up my item within the 30 day grace period?
Any purchases remaining 30 days after the auction will be transferred to an off-site warehouse and will incur storage and moving fees (please see Terms of Sale).
Can I pay LAMA directly for the cost of shipping, along with the remainder of my invoiced balance?
Please pay your shipper directly for their services. Your shipper will send along payment instruction after you have accepted their offer to ship.
Can a friend to pick up my purchase?
Yes. Please bear in mind that unless you have a resale certificate that can be used towards your purchase or your friend owns and operates a licensed and bonded shipping company, you will need to pay California state sales tax before we can release your purchase. This is just the same as if you walked into any other storefront and made a purchase in person; auction buys are no exception.
Can I use my own shipper?
Absolutely. Please note that we require a Bill of Lading or Shipping Invoice from your shipper at least 24 hours prior to collection. Please send required documentation to firstname.lastname@example.org.
